How iFixImg Works
Your files stay on your device
iFixImg is built around a simple principle: Your files should stay under your control.
All iFixImg file-processing tools run client-side in your web browser. iFixImg does not use an external API or server-side processing service to process your files. Your browser performs the work locally on your device.
How local processing works
When you use an iFixImg tool, the basic process looks like this:
Unlike traditional online converters, your file does not need to be uploaded to a remote processing server.
1. Select your file
Choose a file from your device or drag and drop it into the iFixImg tool. Your browser provides the selected file to the tool running on your device.
2. Your browser processes the file
The processing happens directly inside your browser. Depending on the tool, iFixImg uses technologies such as:
- JavaScript
- Browser APIs
- Canvas
- WebAssembly
- Web Workers
- Client-side libraries
- Locally executed AI models
These technologies allow your browser to perform image, audio, video, PDF, and other operations without sending the file to a processing server.
3. Your result is created locally
The processed result is generated by your browser. For example:
4. You download the result
Once processing is complete, you can download the resulting file directly to your device. iFixImg does not need to receive the original file in order to generate the result for locally processed tools.
Does iFixImg upload my files?
No.
iFixImg does not use an external API or server-side processing service to process your files. For client-side tools, the selected file stays within your browser's processing environment.
This means your images, videos, audio files, PDFs, and documents processed locally do not need to be uploaded to an iFixImg processing server.
What does "client-side" mean?
Client-side means the work is performed on your device rather than on a remote server. Your browser is the client.
When an iFixImg tool performs an operation locally, your device provides the processing power and memory required to complete that operation. This also means performance can depend on your device, browser, available memory, and the size of the file.
Why local processing is better for privacy
Traditional online file-processing services often require this: Upload → Server → Processing → Download. That means a copy of your file has to travel to a remote computer.
iFixImg is designed differently: Select → Process locally → Download. Your file does not need to leave your device.
This is especially useful when working with personal photographs, screenshots, business documents, identity documents, private videos, voice recordings, and sensitive media.
Does local processing require the Internet?
Not necessarily. Some iFixImg tools can continue processing files without an active Internet connection once the required application resources have already been loaded.
Other tools may need an initial download of a library, WebAssembly module, AI model, or other application resource. For example, the Audio Extractor downloads its processing engine the first time it is used. After the engine has been cached, audio extraction can work offline. The exact offline behavior depends on the tool and browser.
Why might my browser still make network requests?
A website can make network requests for reasons that are unrelated to processing your file. For example, a browser may request website application resources, JavaScript, WebAssembly modules, fonts, analytics resources, or cached application resources.
A network request does not automatically mean your selected file has been uploaded. The important distinction is between website network activity and uploading your selected file for processing.
Can I verify local processing myself?
Yes. You can inspect browser network activity using your browser's Developer Tools.
- Open iFixImg and your browser's Developer Tools.
- Open the Network panel.
- Open a client-side processing tool and select a test file.
- Run the tool and inspect the network requests.
For client-side processing, the selected file should not be uploaded to an iFixImg file-processing endpoint. You can perform this test yourself instead of relying only on a privacy statement.
File size and performance
Because processing happens on your device, there is no server-side file upload limit for client-side tools. However, your device still has practical limits. Large files may require more RAM, processing time, battery, or a faster processor. A large video that works quickly on a desktop computer may take longer on a mobile device. This is a normal consequence of local processing.
Our privacy principle
We believe users should be able to process everyday files without automatically sending those files to a remote processing service.
That's why iFixImg is built around:
- No file upload for client-side processing.
- No external file-processing API.
- Processing in your browser.
- Your result generated on your device.
